MovemberAs Movember winds down lets take a look at what this social fad really means and why it has become so popular. Yes, it is a great excuse for men to grow out their facial hair without any negative repercussion but it is also an international fundraising effort. It has been said that women have breast cancer awareness month and men have Movember. The Movember Foundation has tapped into a perfect niche, which makes marketing efforts for the cause widely successful and somewhat effortless. Not only is it not very difficult to get participants to participate but there is also no real push to get people to promote the effort. Almost everyone will upload pictures of their impressive Movember stash willingly to social media. In 2013 this highly social fundraiser raised over $550 million and funded over 800 programs around the word for men’s health.

With all of the money raised Fast Company decided to take a look at what any one mustache was worth last year depending on where you live. Denver made the list of top 36 performing cities last year with each Movember mustache being worth $65. Take a look and see if your hometown made the list.
