It’s what Adams County came to us asking for, and it’s what we delivered after hours and hours of research, several rounds of design, late nights sorting through endless pages of content, and coffee shop sessions grinding out population. 8 months of hard work, collaboration, and the beauty of creativity coming together for an amazing government website built with people in mind.
Their goals were simple, but many in number: ADA compliance, easily accessible digital services, better SEO, cleaner design, consistency, content clean-up, and more. It was a big undertaking, and so we made sure we were all in for them and ready to collaborate every step of the way.
As the go-to place for Adams County residents to find what they need, access services important for their daily lives in the county, and feel supported by their local government, it was crucial we got this right…
…so we started with plenty of research. Building a better user experience starts with understanding them. We worked with Adams County to follow a resident’s journey through the website, highlight key services we needed to bring to the forefront, and give our recommendations for a clean, easy-to-navigate site map.
After looking into their competitors, it was clear Adams County had plenty of room for improvement in terms of design. We created vision boards, sample designs, talked about modules and elements crucial for a visually appealing experience, and settled on a fresh look for Adams County — one that stands out, is approachable, and showcases who Adams County is on every corner of the screen.
With site maps, wireframes, and page designs done, it was time to dig into content.
Adams County had over 2,000 pages of content scattered throughout their old site. The first step in our content journey was to sift through the pages, sort out what wasn’t needed, consolidate, and create a foolproof content migration plan.
With the help of the Adams County team, we filled out hundreds of content outlines, incorporated important keywords, refreshed all meta details, and ensured consistency of tone and voice across the board.
2,000 pages turned into 600, and the final product reflects a much more organized county.
As our developers were working in the background to build out all the modules and functionality, the rest of the team continued to finalize content.
But the real magic happened when the two things came together. Seeing all the content come alive on the new website, one page at a time, was truly beautiful.
We could go on and on about this project. The excitement is palpable. We captured it in a website launch video and campaign we developed alongside the new site.
